Our motto and philosophy is Live to Travel: Travel to Give. Each year a proportion of our income is donated to development projects in the communities we visit.

The projects we support promote environmental conservation, education and sustainable economic development. We are very proud of our positive impact on the communities that we visit.

The Grace Centre www.gracecentres.org

The Grace Centre in Bahar Dar (Ethiopia) assists families and children by supporting mothers in their care role and providing education and training. Icon Adventures assists The Grace Centre by providing much needed medical, administrative and personal supplies. 

Humanitarian Aid

We encourage travellers to carry humanitarian aid to developing countries.

In 2007 our clients brought around 150 kilograms of aid to Ethiopia including baby formula for the Koala foster home and medical supplies for the fistula hospital.

In 2006 Icon Adventures presented World Vision with a $5000 donation to assist two projects in southern Ethiopia. This donation provided more than 500 text books plus tables, chairs, blackboards, globes, maps, maths instruments and sports equipment for seven local schools. In addition, one of the poorest families in Kochore received two milking cows, two sheep, bedding and clothes.

Ethiopian School Desk Project

Icon Adventures provides desks and chairs for some of the most isolated and poorly resourced schools in Ethiopia. These are manufactured in a local workshop in Debark and transported to schools in the Simien Mountains.

This is an ongoing project, your donation of $50 will purchase one desk and bench seat which will seat 3 children.

The Foundation promotes education, health and sporting initiatives for the communities living along the Kokoda Track.

Icon Adventures are currently working with the KTF to build a school for Efogi One village.

The School of St Jude  www.schoolofstjude.co.tz 

The School of St. Jude is a sponsor-supported School in Tanzania that educates orphaned and vulnerable children from the nation’s lowest socio-economic backgrounds.

Icon Adventures supports the school through sponsorship.

Camp Quality  K2 Treasure Hunt

2010: Our favourite outdoor store, K2, raised a staggering $6500 at their recent K2 Treasure Hunt. The Icon team were proud to donate the major prize of two Kokoda Treks. We're doing it again this year so come along and have a fun day for a worthy cause.

2009:  Congratulations to our fabulous trekkers who raised over $50,000 for Camp Quality. This great achievement enabled 65 sick children to attend Main Camp. Well done particularly to Cameron who tackled the track after over-coming childhood leukemia.
